What “Diwa” means — and why we’re here
Diwa is a Filipino word for spirit, consciousness, the inner sense of a thing — the quiet life inside you. OurDiwa is a gentle companion for that inner life, and for the deepest question it carries: who made me, and where do I return?
Our aim is summed up in the timeless words of Rib‘i ibn ‘Amir:
“To bring people out from the worship of created beings to the worship of the Lord of all created beings; from the narrowness of this world to the vastness of this world and the Hereafter; and from the injustice of man-made ways to the justice of Islam.”
This is the heart of OurDiwa: a warm, unhurried invitation to know Allah — the One God, the Most Merciful — and to let the soul return to its Source. Not by pressure, but by mercy. Not as a label or a culture, but as the gentle homecoming of the heart.
Islam, to us, is not merely a name, an identity, or a tradition. It is the soul’s return to its Lord: surrender to Allah with love, humility, certainty, and trust — the freeing of the heart from attachment to creation, so it may finally rest in the One who created it, knows it, and calls it back.
We invite — we do not compel. We remind — we do not condemn. We awaken the truth already within you: that you belong to Allah, are sustained by Allah, and find peace only in returning to Allah. Whoever you are — Muslim, returning, searching, or simply curious — you are welcome to sit, speak honestly, and look toward the light. We draw from the Qur’an, the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and the wisdom of those who spent their lives turning hearts gently toward Allah.
Diwa is a reflection companion — not therapy, not a doctor, not emergency care, and not a substitute for a scholar. It is a soft place to begin, and a door that points home.
